Undoubted by Biñan’s homecourt advantage, the Aces pulled off a tough 90-85 win over the Tatak Gel to bolster their chances in The Asian Tournament Leg 2 Friday at the Alonte Sports Arena.
The Aces displayed their balance firepower as five players wound up in double figures on their way to securing their fourth win in five games.
Ricky Bryce ended up with a double-double showing of 19 points and 11 boards, while Alex Kolchenko contributed 17 markers. Alfred Gayosa added 15, Serhii Pryimak added 12 and Xavier Alexander contributed 10 for the Aces, who completed 31 assists, a tribute to the cohesion the team has been providing all tournament long.
They had 12 more assists than the home squad, which was led by KG Canaleta’s 19 markers, including five three-point shots.
But the Aces were more aggressive attacking inside the shaded lane as they produced 34 points, 20 more than the Tatak Gel, who dropped to their second loss in three matches.
Kolchenko’s two pressure-packed free throws in the last 20 seconds of the game sealed the win for the Aces, who survived the home team’s 14 three-point shots made.
